State Youth Games Information

State Youth Games is an annual event held at Lardner Park over the King’s Birthday weekend. State Youth Games brings together youth groups from across the state to compete in sports, get to know each other, and have fun. Each day of State Youth Games involves two sports sessions, where youth groups compete in a variety of sports, before a session in the evening focused on gathering together, hearing from a guest speaker, and singing some worship music together. State Youth Games is a Christian event run by Churches of Christ Victoria and Tasmania.

Attending with Warragul Wild Dogs

Participants going to State Youth Games must attend State Youth Games as part of a group. Our group is called Warragul Wild Dogs – over the weekend, we stay at Warragul Anglican Church.

In 2024, attending State Youth Games with Warragul Wild Dogs will cost $160 per person, or $180 per person after the conclusion of the early bird period. The early bird period ends on the 8th of April. You might be aware this is an increased cost from last year, and the reason for this is that State Youth Games themselves have raised their base cost in 2024. The cost you pay is broken down as follows:

  • $125 (or $145 after early bird ends) goes to State Youth Games themselves, and is the base cost they charge all groups per participant. Please note that participants don’t pay this to SYG directly; we pay this to State Youth Games on your behalf (after receiving your payment via Trybooking).
  • The remaining $35 covers food and other small logistical costs across the weekend. We cater for all meals across the weekend, which includes all meals, snacks and supper on Saturday and Sunday, and breakfast on Monday. This doesn’t include dinner on Friday, so make sure you eat dinner before coming along on the Friday night!

You pay this via our portal on Trybooking, which you will find the details for below.

Sign-up Process

To sign-up for State Youth Games 2024, first head to our page on Trybooking. You can find this link here. Alternatively it can be found at https://www.trybooking.com/CQATT. There are three steps to complete the sign up process.

Step 1: Begin on Trybooking
On the Trybooking page, you can begin the registration process by selecting ‘book now’, and selecting the number of tickets you require – each ticket provides admission for one participant. When you have selected the number of tickets, press ‘next’, and complete the section collecting your/your child’s information. This section collects information for our purposes, and is separate to the information you will provide in Step 2.

In this section, it is important that you provide a few preferences of friends that you would like to be in a team with over the weekend. This will help us create teams that have a balance of new and existing friendships.

Step 2: Sign up on SYG’s website

The final question of the Trybooking form will direct you to this link, which is where you will register with State Youth Games themselves. The link should open in a new tab by default, but be careful to ensure you open in a new tab to avoid losing your progress on Trybooking. The information you provide on this website will be used by State Youth Games for their purposes.

On the SYG website, you will provide some of the same information, in addition to medical information and sports preferences. This year, filling out your sports preferences on this website is required, as we plan on using sports preferences to make our teams fairer for everyone.

Step 3: Complete the Trybooking sign up

When you have completed the sign up process on the SYG website (by clicking the grey ‘sign up’ button at the bottom of the page), please return to the tab with Trybooking open, check the box confirming you have signed up on the SYG website, and click next. This will take you to the checkout page.

This page should be completed with the information of the person who is registering and paying for the participant (ie, the parent or guardian). Please enter your booking and payment information, and click ‘purchase’ to confirm your registration.

IMPORTANT: If you never get to the Checkout page or pay to confirm your registration, your registration is not yet completed or confirmed.

Troubleshooting the Sign-up Process
If you have any issues during the sign-up process, please email me at this address or call me on 0432 921 322. Before you do that though, have a read of some of the most common issues people run into:

The single most common issue (more than 90% of issues reported) is a result of closing the Trybooking page to do the SYG registration. If you open the SYG website in a new tab (and don’t close the Trybooking page) you will avoid most issues people have with the process.

I closed the Trybooking site before getting to the Checkout page and have lost my progress. What do I do?

If you close the Trybooking page before getting to the Checkout page, you will have to return to Trybooking and finish the booking. Go to https://www.trybooking.com/CQATT, click on the white shopping trolley in the top right of the screen, and click on complete data, which will be in red. This will return you to the Trybooking form for you to finish entering data.

I closed the Trybooking site after getting to the Checkout page and have lost my progress. What do I do?

If you closed the Trybooking page after getting to the Checkout page, you haven’t actually lost your progress! Go to https://www.trybooking.com/CQATT, click on the white shopping trolley in the top right of the screen, and click on the yellow ‘Checkout’ button. This will return you to the Checkout page where you can finish the transaction

The Trybooking form is suggesting I need to provide information for multiple participants, but I only selected one. What do I do?
This is usually a result of closing Trybooking before completing the transaction, but instead of returning to the initial transaction as described above, you have restarted the entire process. This means Trybooking thinks you have added multiple tickets to your account, and thus thinks you have multiple participants attending. To correct this, click on the white shopping trolley in the top right of the screen, and click ‘Remove’ next to one or multiple of the tickets you added. You will then need to begin the process again.

The Trybooking checkout page is showing a total cost much higher than what it should be. What do I do?

This is also usually a result of closing Trybooking before completing the transaction, and accidentally adding multiple participants as a result. Follow the instructions above to remove the multiple tickets from your account, and start again.

If you have any other issues, please get in contact ASAP! The early bird cutoff is coming up fast, and we want everyone to register before that date so that as many people as possible get the lower price. The early bird date is the 8th of April.
